Resources

Art and Air Poster Competition

Each spring the Clean Air Campaign holds a student art contest called "Art and Air." This unique program allows olders students to teach their younger counterparts about air pollution. Teachers worked with representatives from the Campaign to design a program that consists of lecture, video and discussion, including a component built around Dr. Seuss's book The Lorax.

After the tutoring sessions are complete the local artist works with the younger students to turn their new knowledge into art.

All students who participate receive a goody bag of donated items from sponsors (such as water bottles, notepads, etc). Of the entries, five winners were chosen and the prizes are awarded. Prizes have included a bicycle, bike helmets, and family passes to the Aquarium.

If you would like your class to participate in this cross-curricular competition, please contact Amber McCorvie, PR Specialist, at (423) 643-5989.
